Groundbreaking Heating Technology from Clean Burn Tech Makes Your Home Greener and Healthier
Would you like to improve your indoor air quality and reduce heating costs, while also contributing to the environment? Clean Burn Tech’s innovative heating solution is the answer – and best of all: It works just as well with new as with older heating systems.
Clean Burn Tech, founded by entrepreneur Thor Kielland, is a spin-off from the company Pipeeksperten. After 30 years in the chimney rehabilitation industry, Kielland discovered a significant need to rethink heating technology.
“There was a lot of talk about particle emissions and indoor air quality. But I believed that unless you look at the entire heating system as a whole – the chimney, pipes, and fireplace – you’ll never achieve an optimal solution,” says Kielland.
With a strong desire to reduce particle emissions and improve air quality in Norwegian homes, Kielland embarked on a technological development journey alongside international experts.
From Lab to Living Room
Eighteen months after Clean Burn Tech was established, the technology has already gained attention both in Norway and internationally – thanks to remarkable test results from SINTEF. The solution consists of an advanced fan and sensor that continuously regulate the pressure inside the fireplace.
“What’s unique about our product is that we bring the laboratory solution straight into users’ homes. This is something entirely new in the industry,” says Kielland.
Traditional testing is typically conducted in laboratories under ideal and constant conditions to ensure that fireplaces meet specific international standards. These tests are necessary for fireplaces to be approved for sale, but they do not necessarily reflect real-life performance in users’ homes.
“We discovered that fireplaces approved in laboratories often did not perform as efficiently at home because atmospheric pressure and airflow vary from day to day and place to place. Our solution addresses this issue by continuously adapting to real conditions in the home, so users can achieve the same excellent results at home as in the lab,” Kielland explains.
This technology ensures optimal combustion, minimizes particle emissions, and increases efficiency.
International Interest and Production
Clean Burn Tech’s groundbreaking solution has so far received exclusively positive feedback, especially from experts in the field.
“SINTEF’s researchers have said that this technology should be installed in every Norwegian home with a fireplace. That’s incredibly motivating to hear,” notes Kielland.
Internationally, the technology has drawn attention through various conferences, and Kielland has already received inquiries from both Canada and Chile.
“Soon, I’ll be heading to a conference in Poland to present the technology, where we’ll also begin production. The long-term goal is also to establish production in Norway to make the solution easily available at home,” he explains.
A Greener Future with Clean Burn Tech
Kielland has big ambitions for the technology and believes it will have a significant positive impact both for individuals and society as a whole:
“With our technology, people will enjoy both improved health and financial savings. When you get more heat from each log, you’re not only cutting costs – you’re also sparing the environment from unnecessary strain.”
The founder emphasizes that the system does not require a new fireplace but can be retrofitted into existing installations – meaning the solution is accessible to everyone.
In summary: Clean Burn Tech’s solution is a vital contribution to the green transition and a step toward healthier indoor environments for everyone using wood-burning heating.
